The ketch Anna Møller

Holbæk Harbour - The quay

When you step aboard the Anna Møller, you can feel 120 years of history beneath your feet. The ketch has seen it all on its voyages through the Kattegat.
The Anna Møller is one of Denmark’s best-preserved historic vessels and the largest Danish sailing ship without an engine. In the summer, it sails around Danish waters, but is usually moored at the quay in Holbæk.

History

Restoration of the ketch Anna Møller in 1976

A ship with over a hundred years under its belt

Anna Møller, originally named Esther, was built in Randers in 1906 and carried cargo throughout Danish waters for almost 70 years. Following a comprehensive restoration at the National Museum of Denmark’s shipyard in Holbæk, the ship was relaunched in 2021 and has now been restored to its original 1906 appearance. A distinctive feature is the timber hatch on the port side of the bow, which allowed for the loading of particularly long pieces of timber and still serves as a reminder of what the ship was actually built for.
